Choosing a temper
7050 is used for thick aerospace plate where strength, toughness and stress-corrosion performance matter. Its lower quench sensitivity is useful in thicker sections.
7050-T7451 plate is associated with AMS 4050. T7451 and T7651 are distinct overaged, stress-relieved tempers: T7451 offers better stress-corrosion resistance, while T7651 offers higher typical strength. Select the exact temper the drawing requires; they are not interchangeable.
Machining and applications
Carbide tooling and cutting fluid are useful for heavy cuts and deep pockets. Confirm machining allowance and grain direction before ordering. Large pockets and thin finished walls benefit from a planned roughing sequence. Typical manufacturer values are not design allowables or guaranteed minima.

Saw cuts and machining allowance
Our standard saw-cut tolerance is +1/8″ / −0″ on cut length and width. Allow material for facing and finish machining. A different tolerance agreed on your order takes precedence.
Plate thickness, flatness and surface condition follow the supplied mill or producer specification. Full mill-stock pieces ship uncut and retain mill tolerances.
