Our standard saw-cut tolerance is +1/8″ / −0″ on cut length and width. Allow material for facing and finish machining. A different tolerance agreed on your order takes precedence.
Plate thickness, flatness and surface condition follow the supplied mill or producer specification. Full mill-stock pieces ship uncut and retain mill tolerances.

Choosing a temper
6061 combines moderate strength, corrosion resistance and machinability for general structural parts, fixtures and housings. Stress-relieved plate tempers are stretched after heat treatment to reduce residual stress before machining.
6061-T651 aluminum plate is stress relieved by stretching; AMS 4027 covers T651 plate. Extruded 6061-T6511 bar is a different product form. Match the drawing’s temper and specification when choosing material.
Machining and applications
Use sharp tools and effective chip evacuation for deep pockets. Cutting fluid can help finish and heavy cuts. Workholding and the amount and sequence of material removal affect movement.
